What types of portfolios can Manage Invest handle?
|
Manage Invest can handle portfolios of investments held by individuals, investment clubs, pension funds, trust funds, separately managed accounts and just about anything else.
There are a number of portfolio types you can choose from at start-up and you can also customize these types to suit your needs. Additionally, every portfolio on your system may have its own country and culture setting, so you can manage a personal investment portfolio running in the UK and an investment club running in Australia.
Most of the software is customizable, including asset classes, allocation categories, income tax schedules and rates, consumption taxes and so on.

How many portfolios, investors, assets, accounts and transactions can I add?
|
You can add an unlimited number of just about anything in the software. You can have unlimited portfolios with an unlimited number of investors, assets, asset allocation categories, accounts, transactions, tax schedules, consumption tax types and the list goes on.
This means you can easily administer a pension club and manage your own personal investments in a separate portfolio.
Additionally, you can run financial reports which can show consolidated amounts for selected portfolios, so you will know your overall position.

What types of assets can Manage Invest handle?
|
Manage Invest can handle all types of assets, including financial assets such as stocks and managed funds; physical assets such as residential property and commercial property as well as derivatives like options. Each of the three types of assets have their own screens and these classifications can be further broken into asset classes.
Manage Invest includes facilities for corporate actions such as bonus shares, splits, returns of capital and spin-offs (demergers). These functions will also adjust the cost base when necessary, so capital gain calculations will be correct when the asset is sold.
Those investing in physical assets will also be able to use the tenant management and depreciation facilities to simplify administration of properties and perhaps even increase cash flow.
Derivatives, such as options, are also handled by the Manage Invest. There is even a payoff diagram drawn for these types of assets, which can be combined with other derivatives to accurately display the payoffs for different scenarios.

Does Manage Invest cater for recording dividends and distributions?
|
Yes, Manage Invest is capable of handling all types of dividends and distributions. You can add in any components and even elect to provide breakdown later, if it was not provided by the company issuing dividends. Reinvestments (stock dividends) are also handled with ease.
Some dividend or distribution components may include tax deferred amounts and imputation credits, which are all handled by the software automatically when the dividend or distribution is added.

Can I allocate assets to different investors within a portfolio?
|
Yes. Every asset within Manage Invest can be allocated to any one or more of the investors, by assigning the asset to investors in a percentage table of that asset.
This allows you to easily cater for situations where there are multiple investors but the ownership of assets is not evenly split between the investors in the portfolio. These settings are also taken into account when splitting the profits of the portfolio between investors at the end of the year.

Can Manage Invest handle consumption taxes (sales tax, GST, VAT)?
|
Yes. Manage Invest can handle all types of sales and consumption taxes (VAT, GST and others), including facilities for recording tax collected where this may be applicable.
The software will load up a default list of consumption taxes based on the country you choose when you set up a portfolio, this list can then be completely customised.

Does Manage Invest calculate capital gains including determining tax liabilities?
|
Yes. Manage Invest is capable of calculating capital gains more accurately than many other software packages. The main reason behind this is that many software packages do not handle tax deferred income properly, which leads to incorrect capital gain amounts being calculated and possibly a failed audit and/or a fine from the tax office.
Manage Invest will also determine what percentage of the capital gains are taxable and the taxation to be applied. Just like in other areas of the software, the initial settings depend on country chosen and can be modified by users.

What kinds of reports can I generate from Manage Invest?

Manage Invest can automatically generate and extensive list of reports, each of which is customizable.
Reports can be exported to various file formats including PDF, Excel® and Word®.
Financial reports can usually be shown as multiple columns to compare two periods and include:
- Balance Sheet (Statement of Financial Position)
- Profit and Loss (Income Statement, Statement of Income)
- Cash Flow
- Dividends Report
- Distributions Report
- Capital Gains Report, which can optionally include capital gain components of dividends, distributions and/or derivative contracts written

|
Manage Invest is delivered as a download, which includes the installer. The installer will also deploy an electronic copy of the help manual, linked to the software.

What about support and updates?
|
Support is offered by email and user forum.
Updates are produced periodically. Minor updates are issued to fix bugs or add minor changes, while major updates include major improvements or additions. Minor updates are available free of charge and major updates are available at an upgrade price which is yet to be determined.
